My beautiful cat Bessie disappeared yesterday and I have just found her dead on nearby disused railway. Absolutely devastated. She was only 3. I hope she didn't suffer but I noticed her eyes were wide open with big pupils. Does this mean she died of fright

I'm so sorry for your loss! Our own beautiful cat Squeak passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Friday night. He died in my husband's lap. The moment before he passed he raised his head, eyes wide, stared straight ahead, as if he saw something, and said "rowr, rowr, rowr!" We believe that he saw our other cats, who had passed on before him, because he made the same noise that he always made when he saw other cats.
I don't believe that your Bessie died of fright. I think she saw other cats who were coming to lead her on! I hope that this gives you some comfort and peace. I do know what you are going through. It's so much harder when a death is completely unexpected.
