My Springer Spaniel (Sophie) chews at her toenails. (Hyper breed that needs more exercise).  I had her groomed prior to a Vet appt. and because the groomer was able to clip the hair on her feet short, the vet noticed the bright pink between her toes, and said it was allergies. It's like "tear staining" can be allergies.  Allergies to what, you ask. It's anyone's guess..the grass for pete's sake!  Really? I'm going with food. Once had a spaniel mix that licked her ankles to red and swollen, and again with an English Pointer.  The Pointer (active hunter) was diagnosed as "bored." Not enough activity.  Similar with my Spaniel mix.  However, once I removed the pet guinea pig from her sleeping area, and started scolding her excessive licking, she stopped.

So, I scold Sophie when I catch her chewing, and provide plenty of toys for burning off energy, and chewing (pig ears, hard rubber bones).  When the weather gets nice again, we'll resume her park runs and frisbee catching.

Best of luck.

I think this type of problems occur when your dogs behavior is not good so i think you can take him outside from home for a long walk and take hard exercise and hope this will change his behavior and your problem is solved. You may also contact with any specialist and hope he will give you a better advice .
