my pitbull has a ridgeback??
I have a registered bluenose pitbull. I was wondering why this dog has a well defined ridgeback. Both of the parents and all the grandparents of this dog are registered and they do not have a ridgeback. Why he got the ridgeback???

Not a lot is known about the Pitbull origin. I have heard they are a result of some cross breeding, so the ridge in your back may be a result of a submissive trait coming out. It might be like blue eyes, its a recessive trait, but people still end up with blue eyes. Maybe its something like that?

did you know how the pitbull got the name? back in the day they used them to fight bulls..in i think mexico.they would turn them loss in a pit with the bull, and the pit would grab the bulls nose..the pitt that hung on longer was declared the will..thus the term PITBULL...pitbulls was crossed with the bull terrier and boxers, the was breed for fighting...the pits i ahve owned was rasied to not fight...they are the best dog to own when raised right..the term ..thta they would turn on you is nothin but how they are rasied...just my thoughts..ty

sorry for the mispelled words
Maybe he was the runt? Or maybe just because of the breeding? If it doesn't seem to get in the way, then you should leave it, unless concerned.
