my 10 yr old dog won't stop marking all over my house :(

Hello,

My name is Rose, and my 10 year old dog Zach has been marking his territory all over my house.  He has pretty much done this a few times since I have had him (I rescued him about 3 years ago).  Recently, he has been doing it a lot.  Sometimes once or more a day.  He is a Chesepeake, so even if just a little bit of pee is really a lot.  I don't know what to do.  He is potty trained, and he knows it is naughty.  I have never caught him in the act either, because he is very sneaky about it.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Rose

Hi,

Has your dog been fixed?  This behavior is associated with the desire to establish his territory and assert dominance over other males in the neighborhood.  This sort of thing usually almost entirely goes away once a male dog has been neutered.

Good luck!

Hi again, just noticed that you said your dog was 10 years old...

In this case, you might want to have him checked out by a vet.  Conditions like Cushing's Disease and Addison's disease will cause dogs to increase their water intake which will often result in uncharacteristic accidents inside the house.

I should have added that.  He has been fixed.  Thanks for answering:)
