rotweiller skin problem

I have a 2yr old rot. Her name is sadie. I have noticed a red rash on her belly, and also scabs on her ears, nose and even around her eyes. They are crusty and sometimes they ooze. She doesnt itch with this but all she wants to do is sleep. I have cleaned the area with warm water and I apply neosporin around the nose and other area's. I have taken her to the vet and they are doing blood work on her. Has anyone had any similiar problems I am really worried. I had lost a rot 2yrs ago after having him for 10yrs to cancer, and I had a poodle of 22yrs that passed 2months after the rot had died. I cant loose another pet. So if anyone has had any problem please help me out. Thanks

I am not a vet, but it sounds like your dog may have a severe case of Atopy, which is basically an alergic reaction that affects the skin.  The symptoms match the disorder, but without blood tests its always hard to know for sure.  BTW, does your dog have any hair loss?  The great news is if your dog does have atopy, it is treatable.  Make sure to keep the areas clean becasue if they get infected it can cause a bacterial infection, which could lead to more serious problems.

Yes she does has skin loss. But most of all it is crusty. You know when you get poison oil and it seeps then it get crusty. I cant wait till Monday that is when the blood work will be back. I just thought that if anyone else had any problems like this maybe they can tell me what it might be. Thanks you for replying

Hopefully its something that is not to serious and can be treated easily. If you get a chance, I would really like to hear about the results when you get them back from your vet.

I was told by the vet that my rot has an immune disease. they said that she has to take prednisone for the rest of her life. the only thing she had been on this for 3 weeks and this didnt seem to help. all she did was uninate all the time even in the house she never did this before. the skin irration got worse so i thought since i was told she had an allergy so i gave her over the counter benedryl. it started clearing up and she has some energy now. i just dont know what to do now. there are all forms of site affects to the prednisone. so what do you think i should do.

Well my vet says that my dog has pemphigus. she has to take a steriod every day along with her thyroid meds. she has gotten a little more percky but not like when we first got her. I still give her a benadryl once in while my vet  said to throw them away but it seems to take the edge off from biting at her self. i hope i am not hurting her by doing this thanks all of you for helping me out i cant go through loosing another animal.
