wierd ear pain
Hi there - I am new to posting on forums so I hope I haven't posted this twice. I have a 3 year old small active happy mixed-breed dog. She has longish floppy ears. She seems healthy and loves to play. However, on occasion when I am petting her head or playing with her ears she will yelp in pain and run away. She shows no sign of ear infection (ear odor, hot ear, head shaking, ear scratching etc) - and her outer ear shows no sign of injury (cuts, lumps, scratches etc). Any ideas what this could be?moira
8 Month old kitten's lips swelling? Looks painful? Please help!
First, a little background on my kitten. Her name is Lily and I adopted her in May. When I adopted her she had an upper respiratory infection that we tried repetitively to treat, yet to this day she still has a bit of a stuffy nose and sneezes every now and then.As of earlier this week, her bottom lip swelled up very large, and looked red and painful. I watched it, and it went down, only to see that as of yesterday her upper lip has swollen now and looks even worse than her bottom lip did. She also, in the past few months, has had the pads on two of her paws do something similar, but I just assumed that she had been messing with a bug of some type and got stung.I am very concerned, as I also adopted a litter mate of hers, who passed away about a week after we got her from what was later determined to be fading kitten syndrome. I'm terrified that it could be something genetic, although her litter mate never had the swollen lips or pads. She seems happy and energetic, and is still eating and drinking like regular. Please help me! I want to take her to the vet but it is not possible at this time due to finances. I'm just worried about my little baby :(
Worm in wound!
My dog got cut running through the woods 3 days ago. Small cut, seemed nothing to worry about. Last night he was trying to bite at it so we took a closer look and a WORM came out of the wound!!!!
My 18 year old cat has bad teeth. They can't put him under anethestic as he has a major heart murmur and some other problems. Is there anything I can use on his teeth to help aleviate some of the tartar and maybe a little pain. None of his teeth look like they are rotten, but there is some red on the gumline on 2 of his teeth. The vet gave me something like orajel and it seemed to work a bit. I just wondered if there was something else out there besides that.

Bloat Prevention Idea - Slow Eating
My dog has always been a fast eater. One really bad thing that can happen is the dog can get some sort of disease known as BLOAT. Apparently its a very bad thing and your dog dies. As a result I have been trying to get him to slow down when he eats because eating fast can actually cause this bad thing to happen. After trying many different things, here is what finally worked.Mix in wet food with dry food. Stir until its a consistency of cookie dough. Mash it down into the bowl. This makes it very hard for him to just "wolf" it down. I think in total it added about 4 minutes till the time is all the way gone.
