In April of 2018 i took in a sweet kitten named ashlyn over the course of a few months i noticed small taces of blood in her stool. Ash was a sweet kitten and always kept indoors. Butb2 days ago i let her outside for 30 min or so only to find her gasping for air laying down on her side. My first instinct was that she was choking she had a small knot in her throat. So i gave her small amounts of water and tried to get it out. After about 20 sec. She completly quit breathing from her nose and within a minute was dead. I am still tramitized i felt sonhelpless not being able to help her. I just want to figure out what happened you see my first though was she was choking but after she passed the knot in her throat dissipeared all together. I feel like someone might have poisoned her but not sure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yesterday I watched helplessly as my 10 year old healthy traveling partner🐈made a horrible noise like a wailing cry for help and then his eyes got distant and he fell to the ground. I was in such shock saying over and over I don't know what to do I don't know what to do I picked up the phone and called the closest vet and they said to bring him right in as he made one more slight cry he contorted his body and passed. I couldn't and still can't believe I lost my buddy this way! Sorry for being graphic but it was horrific to witness and know I could not help one of my best friends through something so awful. I'm so deeply upset he's gone and so mad at myself for I feel I should have done something more although I don't know what? Gonna be hard to forgive myself! Just 10 minutes before  we were playing and having some treats he was an indoor Kitty  and I have nothing bad that they can get in to. Some have said choked and some say heart attack; I just say🐾I'M SORRY MOUSE'URE I WAS HELPLESS I AM GOING TO MISS YOU SO DEEPLY R.I.P.💔

So, a few months ago, my 3 year old (neutered) Male cat began spraying. When I took him to the vet, they found crystals in his bladder and after a month of taking medication and return check ups, they passed and he was fine. But recently, he's been spraying on the walls of our living room and I haven't the slightly clue as to why. There's aren't any other cats roaming the neighbor (most went missing or were eaten by wild animals), he knows where and how to use his litter box (he'll poop in there but that's about it), when we thought it was maybe something stress related, I took him back to the vet and we put him on some medication to reduce his anxiety (it helped for a week and then he want back to spraying), Feliway doesn't do squat and we've tried taking him outside more (because he'll meow like crazy to go explore outside) and playing with him more. My family is already looking into shelters to take him to, but I've become desperate in finding a solution. Please help!

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and looking for any possible answer that I can find. About a week ago my four year old cat died suddenly. She did not have any noticeable health issues. She was accident prone and a bit clumsy but was affectionate with a high energy level until the moment it happened, jumping up to he sink to get water and playing with my other cat.

my friend and I were sitting on the bed reading a magazine. She jumped onto the bed for a pet, jumped to my dresser and back onto the bed. Suddenly it sounded like she had jumped awkwardly from the bed. I thought she was just being her clumsy self. I sat up and looked on the floor at the foot of my bed and she was sprawled out horizontally. I jumped up and panicked knowing something was wrong and planning on taking her to the emergency vet clinic. My friend went to her side. As I am repeating we need to to to the clinic, my friend kept saying they she wasn't going to make it... she got that far off look in her eye. She cried out twice in what I assume was pain, and then she was gone call in all, it happened in under two minutes.

I do not have to option for an autopsy as I picked up her ashes on Tuesday. I am absolutely devastated and still in shock. I have been reading about congenital heart defects but she never displayed any or the symptoms. My ex-bf is a paramedic and thought it may have been an aneurysm. She was an indoor car and although I got her at a shelter she was vaccinated.

I am completely at a loss and am having difficulty finding closer. Can anyone provide some insight?

Thank you so much...

I have read so many stories of sudden loss in the cat section.  I have a 10 year old lab/mix.  I pray I do not have to pour out my sorrow in that section for a long time.  I have always thought myself to be a "dog person". Then Diesel came into my life.  He was a "needy" one from the start. He may have been taken from his mom too soon.  I picked him out.  He was in a trailer home with a lady who had 3 nursing mother cats at the time.  I brought him into vet the very next day.  He grew to be a large sturdy cat.  He was tipping the scale at 18 pounds.  I  tried to have him lose a pound over a two year span.  I knew it should not be done too quickly.  He just loved to eat.  He was on a fixed schedule. I fed him every five hours.  He would often paw me after 3&1/2 though.  Last month before he died I had him at vet and he was at a goal weight. He was 16 pounds.  Still a big guy, a healthy guy.  I had a few questions.  We did a baseline blood check.  All was normal.  Four days later he collapsed and was dead.  I have done all the research i could do.  I am a medical person.  I am a retired nurse. I know these things happen but for Diesel, I could not accept it.  Then I found this site.  I see it happens all too many times.  There is no comfort in this.  To the contrary it pains me more.  I feel for everyone who has lost their loved cat like this.  Unlike dogs...cats only tell us they love us, not much more.  I pray that we all heal.  I pray we see our baby kitties again.  I pray they are not missing us as we miss them.  We would not want that pain for them.  There are no words that can comfort us. I can only hug my dog, and that scares me too.

My absolute best friend in feline form passed away this past Monday morning completely unexpectedly.  To say I am devastated is an understatement.  I have been crying for the past three days.  I was just completely blindsided.  He is one of four of our indoor cats and he just had a full exam at the vet last month.  He was 9 years old and in perfect health, or so the vet thought.

We really don't know what happened.  At around 1 am my wife was still watching tv and heard a crash and a kitty moaning in the dining room.  She rushed to investigate and found Timpy on the floor, legs all sprawled out, moaning with foam coming out of his mouth.  My wife screamed upstairs for me to hurry down.  When I rushed into the room and saw Timpy, I lost it. I knew instantly he was dying.  We quickly wrapped him in a towel and rushed to the car.  I don't know exactly when, but he died in my arms on the way to the emergency vet.  We have had cats for over 20 years and have never experienced anything like this.

Of our four cats, Timpy had the biggest personality and had stolen my heart years ago.  He constantly let me know when it was breakfast or dinner, and he did it very loudly.  Man could that cat meow.  I haven't slept past 7 am on the weekends for over nine years or dared do anything before first feeding the cats when I came home in the evenings.  But my reward was worth it.  Timpy loved me almost as much as food.  He'd snuggle with me for hours, sleep next to me at night, and allowed me to hold him and kiss his tummy unconditionally.  No offense to cats, but he was a dog in a cat suit.

It is truly killing me now that he's gone.  Even though there are still three cats and a dog here, the house is terribly silent.  It makes me so sad.  It also makes me mad.  Last Wednesday, for about a minute, I thought he might have been breathing a little too labored. I was a hair's length away from taking him to the vet when it seemed to stop and he acted otherwise totally normal.  For the next couple of days I would watch him, and saw nothing unusual.  And of course, he was just at the vet a mere four weeks prior, so what could possibly be wrong.  We typically rush our animals to the vet if they just look at us funny, so I really thought I was being overly protective.  Now of course I keep double guessing myself.  What if I had taken him? Maybe he'd still be alive today.  Obviously I will never know and will have to live with that thought forever.  I also find myself wondering why, of all my cats, did it have to be him?  I love all my cats dearly, but some are much older than 9 and none have the personality of Timpy.  Any death would be difficult, but why my precious Timpy?

We will never know what really killed my best buddy, Timpy, though everything I read suggests it was probably feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  A thickening of the heart wall that clearly isn't easily detected by the vet.  Signs of the disease include labored breathing, which would suggest I probably did see something in his behavior last Wednesday.  I just wish I hadn't talked myself out of whisking him to the vet.  If there's one mistake I will never make again, it's that.

Sorry for the long post, but I miss my Templeton more than I have ever missed anything in my life and I just really wanted to tell our story.

Hi, we live on farm, but I'm looking for indoor cat, which can eventually anytime roam free on the fenced compaund(that is not criterium, but possibility, If it would be the cat demand). We have a wild cat, normal cat, which has her place nearby our sheep. As a pure breed, we had a Maine coon cat, but my sister moved to her own house and took the cat along. I'm now looking for a new cat(Pure), I'm still considering Maine, but this time, I'd rather try some new breed.I would like the cat to be a real individuality with her unique personality, exotic cat can be extravagant and I'd like her to be playfull, but nossessarilly 24/7 attention needed. Temperament wise isn't much important, playfull, but aswell independent. I don't care wether smaller or bigger breed, because my apartmant is big aswell as garden and compound outside (both fenced), but she can be 365 days inside, If You would suggest some breeds sensitive on colder weather. Long hair or short hair also isn't important. When it comes to kids, that depends, I have 9 and 6yrs old, but both lives abroad and come for a visit like one month in 2yrs, so I can say, I live alone and I'll be the person cat will be with. I'll be glad if You suggest, 5-7 breeds which at least bit fits my criterium and if possible write something small about the character. Thank You very much in advance. Please, don't suggest shelter Cats, I have already and now looking for some new interesting pure breed

Hello everyone I am heartbroken.  Milo was my first cat. I had adopted him from a friend who could not keep him upon moving in w a significant other who had other cats.  According to the vet they used he was stressed by the other cats and had begun to lose weight and display other unhealthy signs. I happily took Milo into our cat free home and made it a cat home! He was never very playful but did earl up to us and became affectionate over time ( we adopted him about ten months ago) last month he became lethargic. And we noticed blood in his eye. We took him to the vet and after several years and several hundred dollars couldn't figure out what was wrong.  After treating him w antibiotics and eye drops his eye improved but not by much however he resumed his normal eating and social behavior and exhibited no sign that he was in pain.  I was working on coming home the money to perform an ultrasound and determine of maybe there was a tumor causing the problem. Well I came home from work tonight to find him dead in a pile of brown puke. I am just looking for any insight into what may have caused this and if it was an issue that he had always had. He had always been under weight but the vet never mentioned that ad a concern.
