I had one of 7 eight week old kittens start flailing around on the floor today. He appeared unable to breathe.  I had just fed the kittens, so I thought he might be choking. I reached into the back of his throat but didn't feel anything. He started turning blue, so I tried the himlich maneuver, but nothing came out and he started turning blue. I started CPR, doing chest compressions then breaths. Air was going in for awhile, but blood and foam started coming out of his nose, and he passed away. It was horrible. Do you know what could have possibly happened? I'm so devastated.

Hey everyone,

Long-time reader, first time poster here. Looking for some support and advice from fellow cat-lovers.

Last night, my cat Sora (1 1/2 yr old orange tabby) came crying and nursing his left-front leg. It looked like his leg was broken, so I took him to the emergency 24-hour animal hospital, where they took x-rays and determined that someone shot him with a BB gun! This resulted in a fractured bone (see x-rays below). Because they're an emergency vet, they didn't have the right materials to fix him up completely, so they put a temporary splint and some bandages on him and recommended that I bring him to the real vet on Monday.

The emergency vet bill came out to $1000 dollars when all was said and done, and the doctor said the vet on Monday would cost anywhere from $400 to $1000, for a potential grand-total of $2000. I'm on a very tight budget, so this is way more than I can afford, but I really have no option.

I'm trying to work out a payment plan to pay this over time, and my friend suggested I run a GoFundMe campaign to try and get some donations to help pay the bills (link here: https://www.gofundme.com/mycatsora - any contributions, however small, are very much appreciated).

I'm on here seeing if anyone has been in a similar situation with their cat, or if anyone has advice on how to handle this, and of course any kind words are much appreciated.

This all just happened so fast and is very stressful. I can't believe someone would be so cruel as to shoot an innocent cat with a BB gun, but there's nothing I can really do about it now.

Gone for a couple minutes for a 1 block ride to the store came back, cat's neck was twisted up it was lying on the ground dead,I think it had a seizure.

Bubby: 9/9/12-9/12/15 Goodbye my boy. You will always be in my heart. You came into my life when I was all but in darkness and you brought the light back into my life. Be good up there:We cannot choose when we pass into the next life. But we can control who we share our passing's with. It happened so suddenly. In a moment my world suddenly got so much smaller. I cannot lean back and put my hands on that cold nose anymore. Instead I feel an empty table. Or those ears behind a blanket betraying a hiding spot. Just a blanket now. I can't rewind the clock and get that moment back when he collapsed, how I wish I was there to catch him instead of the cold floor that did. But I carried him in these arms and it was in these arms that he left this world. I'll see you again someday but not too soon if I do it right. Goodbye my little Bubby babe.                                                                                                                                                But for all the poetic wording I ask myself if I did everything that I could? He had no symptoms and the vet tells me this really can just happen out of the blue.

Couldn't I have prevented this?! I should have been there to catch him, I should have done more. This sweet little child saved me from myself, and he gave me 3 wonderful years of joy. I am a better human because of him. When it was his turn was I really listening? Now he is gone and I am broken inside. What if I could have saved him?  Even now I am greatful for him for this time I had with him, that I could love something so much that I can ache like this.

Oh my Bubby Baby I miss you I love you so much!!

Such a sad story I just have to tell it.  I have 2 wonderful beautiful siamese cats, both rescued from an animal shelter.  Nick was 5 when we adopted him and he would now be 10 years old. Our other cat is a 4 year old snowshoe siamese and she is adorable.
Last week we adopted another beautiful little siamese cat and have been acclimating her to her new surroundings.  Today I let Nick in the room, with me present, to gently introduce him to the new cat for only a few minutes. He sniffed the room, ate a bit of her food, saw her. She is timid and went and laid down and hissed at him. He hissed back and I gave them a few minutes together and then separated them. Nick was a bit perturbed leaving the room but seemed ok.  He positioned himself on my bed, his usual daytime spot.  Later in the day I went upstairs to check on the new cat in her room and noted Nick lying on the bed. When I went over he was gone!  He had just died in bed and looked like he was just sleeping.  I am still in shock about it . He, in fact, had a Vet appointment tomorrow morning for his annual check up.  I don't know what to say or do. It is hearbreaking and unfathomable to us.I can only say my prayers for him, hope that he did not suffer any pain and will rest in peace.  Thank you for listening.
Devastated in Maine.

My 15-year old cat has been diagnosed with a thymoma, a non-malignant tumor of the thymus for which the suggested treatment is highly invasive surgery (opening up of the sternum and ribcage to remove the tumor, which is pressing against the lungs). I am trying to find someone whose senior cat has had this surgery. It seems to me that the recovery and the many possible complications may cause more pain and suffering than palliative care, but I don't know anyone who has had a personal experience with the procedure and its aftermath.

Anyone know a good vet in San Francisco?

This seemed to work for us.  Hope it helps someone.

L-L mashes and dissolves in water easily to give by syringe.
I started with 1000 mg first day (4 split doses) and less each day after that.  He started drinking the first day (hadn't been drinking...all meds had failed).
This is Day 5, and I gave about 300 mg last nite, even tho he's been comfortable since Day 1.
Changed food to grainless.  Purina Beyond Chicken.  None of my cats would eat urinary tract formula.

My cat is an older cat but I've only had her 2 years, her last owners couldn't keep her any longer. Last year she went without fleas. This year, she started with the black eggs, I now brush her often with lemon juice or vinegar.

I just started this because I didn't realize the problem. or residue. I don't know if it's fleas, food allergy or what. She's also had the same food for the two years I've had her, Friskies Senior Salmon.

Now this roughness began 2  months ago beneath the fur and seems to be upper chest and head only. When brushed or combed I now get this grainy looking tan colored residue.
Please help Saki, she is so miserable.
Thanks, Fred
