Siberian Husky - Overview and History

The Siberian Husky, also known as the Husky or the Sibe, is a breed of dog in the Working Group. This dog breed is famous for their physical endurance and athletic abilities during sled races, and they are also valued as loyal companion pets. The Siberian Husky was recognized by the AKC in 1930 and AKC approved in 1990.

Siberian Husky - Physical Characteristics

Male Siberian Huskies stand between 21 and 24 inches at the shoulders and weigh 45 to 60 pounds. Females stand 20 to 22 inches and weigh in at 35 to 50 pounds. The Siberian Husky's coat is comprised of two layers, a dense undercoat and a longer outercoat of short, straight, guard hairs. The absence of the outercoat is may occur during shedding.
