The Italian Greyhound, also known as the IG and the Piccolo Levriero Italiano, is a breed of dog in the Toy Group. This dog breed looks almost exactly like a regular Greyhound except they are much smaller than size, and they are the smallest of the sighthound family of dogs. The Italian Greyhound was approved by the AKC in 1976.
The Italian Greyhound's chest is deep, with a tucked abdomen, long slender legs and long neck. The face is long and pointed, like a full sized greyhound. Overall, they look like miniature Greyhounds.
Italian Greyhounds are excellent for families and enjoy the company of people. While they are excellent with children, their slim build and short coat make them somewhat fragile, and injury can result from rough play.
