Introduction

The English Toy Spaniel, also known as the King Charles Spaniel, is a breed of dog in the Toy Group. Known by Queen Elizabeth as ‘the Comforter’ this small breed has a stellar personality and a top place among companion dogs. The English Toy Spaniel Breed was recognized by the AKC in 1886 and AKC approved in 1989.

The average English Toy Spaniel stands 10 inches high at the shoulders, and they weigh between 8 and 14 pounds. Their long silky coat need to be brushed on a daily basis, and they should be groomed on a regular schedule. The long floppy ears of the English Toy Spaniel also needs to be cleaned regularly and frequently checked for any signs of infections.

The history of the English Toy Spaniel is not entirely clear, but there is a strong belief that their ancestors originated in Japan and China.
