Miniature Bull Terriers are generally a healthy breed and can typically be expected to live 10 to 12 years. However, there are some health predispositions that potential owners should be aware of. The most common issues affect the dog's hearing, eyes, skin, and knees.
Common Health Problems
There is a high rate of deafness in Bull Terriers, especially those with a white colored coat. One in five white Bull Terriers is deaf in one ear and one in twenty is deaf in both ears. Deaf dogs should not be bred due to deafness being hereditary.
Miniature Bull Terriers are also susceptible to having luxating patellas. This is a knee problem common in small dogs, and can be treated with surgery.
Miniatures are also susceptible to eye problems, such as lens luxation, while their skin can also be a problem. Hot spots, allergic reactions, and hives are not uncommon in the breed
