Personality
The English Springer Spaniel is an affectionate and easy-going dog. They are typically very intelligent and eager to please, and easily incorporated into a family setting. Although good with children, it tends to have a moderate to high energy level, so care should be taken when around very young kids.
English Springer Spaniel are good with other pets, but may not tolerate same sex dogs. Households with pet birds should be careful when bringing a spaniel into the home. Additional training may be required to curb the dog's natural hunting instinct.
English Springer Spaniels have very high stamina and need plenty of activity. Their alertness and attentiveness make them ideal hunting companions, and their long legged build makes them among the fastest of the spaniels.
Activity Requirements
English Springer Spaniels are energetic, cheerful, happy and playful animals. As with many playful dogs or hunting dogs bred as retrievers, these dogs will play with things as simple as empty plastic bottles, socks, or towels. English Springer Spaniels need a lot of regular exercise and mental stimulation for optimum mental health.
