Appearance
The shape of the Bulldog results in a peculiar, unique gait, often described as a "rolling gait". Bulldogs are known for their short muzzles and the saggy skin on their faces, which create the apparent "frown" that has become a trademark of the breed.
Size
In the United States, the size of a typical mature male is about 50 pounds, females about 40 pounds. In the United Kingdom, the breed standard is 55 pounds for a male, 50 pounds for a female.
Coat and Color
Bulldogs come in a variety of colors and ideally have a smooth, short coat. A black-coated Bulldog is also not preferred, and in the show ring a liver-colored nose disqualifies.
