Plotts have been known to face off with bears and boars without showing even a hint of timidity. The Plott Hound was approved by the AKC in 1988.
The Plott Hound should be athletic, muscular, and agile in appearance. The breed should be of moderate build and proportion, neither low set and heavy, nor leggy and light. The Plott Hound's expression should be one of intelligence, confidence, and determination. The Plott Hound's skin should not be baggy like that of a Bloodhound.
