Lifespan
Based on a small sample of 11 deceased dogs, Australian Cattle Dogs have a median longevity of 11.7 years (maximum 15.9 yrs). The leading causes of death were cancer (27%) and cerebral vascular "stroke" (27%).
Common Hereditary Defects and Disorders
- Cataracts: May or may not be visible until two months of age. Juvenile cataracts may develop up to 6 years of age and heredity is the usual cause.
