There are reasons your dog maybe urine marking in your house. These reasons can range from another animal that was present in your house, an unfamiliar surrounding to being territorial. At times the reason maybe physical and a veterinarian might be needed.

If you have had another animal in your house recently your dog may wish to claim his territory back. Urine marking will be the way he communicates that it is his territory. The markings will be where he smells where the other animal was and also around the outline of inside of the house.

The dog may not be familiar with his surroundings and will urine mark out of fear or even to mark over another males scent. Since urine marking is a way of communication between dogs, they want the other dogs to know this is their area. Markings can be anywhere in the house when this happens.

Male dogs will often mark with urine when they smell a female has marked that area before them. This is a form of communication to warn off other male dogs or to allow the female to know a male was there. The marking the male dog may do is often done outside. If the female is heat the urine markings maybe scattered to show a female that he was there.

One thing you need to check is if you see your dog urine marking too much. If you are not sure why your dog is urine marking as much, taking it to a veterinarian is the best solution. By taking your dog to get checked out, you are finding out if there is a physical problem that may need treatment.
