My terrier mix will be 16 in November.  She has been having issues off and on with her hips.  On bad days I have to help her up from a sitting position.  We have started some new anti inflammatory and pain meds that seem to be helping some what.  But the newest thing we have noticed is that she eats and drinks more!!  I mean she eats like she hasn't eaten in days!!  Also she seems confused and roams around the house and sometimes just walks in circles around the coffee table.   She is also having more and more accidents inside as well.  She will go outside for 5-10 min and then as soon as she comes inside she will go #2!!  I know she is old and I don't want her to suffer but I am having a difficult time making that decision myself!  I feel like there is something else we can try but the vet doesn't seem to think so!  She has been a part of our family since she was 8 weeks old and just because she is old and more difficult to take care of I don't want to just give up!!!  Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.  Thank you

Our Boxer will be 8 years old this month and was dx. last week with prostate cancer.  The specialist informed us that it had not spread, and was caught very early, however, she indicated that it could not be surgically removed due to the location.  The tx. options she gave were to have him on antibiotics for the infection caused by the tumor, and the use of Metacam, a non steriod anti inflamatory drug to help with pain, inflamation, and  can often shrink the tumor.  The other option was IV chemo. ev. 3 wks. for 5 treatments.  The worse part of the news is that she said on ave. he would live about 3 to 4 months. without chemo., and maybe 4-6 months with chemo.  Not only is chemo very expensive, and requires him to go thru the treatments, but it doesn't buy us much time. She did say that dogs usually don't have the same bad side effects with chemo. that humans have, but didn't push it either. We love our Rocky so much, and we are all devistated and don't want to lose him.  Does anyone know of a similar case and if the 3-6 month survival sounds accurate, or if they know of a dog having success with surgery.  Since he's been on the extended antibiotic and Metacam, he is acting like his self.  Eating fine, urinating well, playing etc.  Any advise would be welcomed.

Hello everyone,

I have been in the market researching about healthy chews for large and x-large dogs but haven't really found a good product. So, I decided to come up with a product that is healthy and strong enough for large dogs to enjoy. What are you doing to keep your dogs busy, content and occupied so that they're not chewing on furnitures, sofas, shoes and other items around the house?

I look forward to hearing back.

Regards,
Neil

my chihuahua has chronic paratenitis and is on ID diet, and has meta am and cerinia occasionally for his flares; however, it costs approx $400 monthly as I take him if he is not eating etc. He often has stomach spasms and frothy foam spit up with coughing. Could this be anything else, they only had one high lab test and confirmed their diagnosis. Could it be worms, or anything else and is there any herbal items I could give him instead of taking him to vet every time?

Hi all! I'm looking for opinions on dog knee braces. I had found the Ortocanis dog knee brace and wanted to know if anyone had any experience using it! The price seems fantastic and by just looking online it seems like they have lots of really positive feedback.

Here's the link to the Ortocanis dog knee brace: http://www.ortocanis.com/en/technical-helps-for-dogs/90-knee-brace.html

Maybe someone can help me out..

My mom's dachshund dog I think it almost 2 was appearing not to be breathing in the middle of the night and was unresponsive. Has anyone ever dealt with this before? She said she shook him, picked him up and was still not responding. After a few minutes he came around and is perfectly fine now.

How do I tell if my puppy is a female or male?

Hi, I'm Chris, I'm new here, I'm a volunteer for an animal rescue charity in Cebu, Philippines.  I recused 2 dogs yesterday from a homeowner whose house got burned down in one of the slums here, she called me to collect her dogs but the poor things are riddled with fleas and tick and their fur is all matted. Due to no budget im looking at ways to save money. does anyone know of any cheap ways to remove fleas and tick without buying materials or chemicals, maybe a home remedy or methods that can be used which are inexpensive, unfortunately Brownie and Fluffy' got slightly burnt in the fire also which is another reason i dont want to put any chemicals on them and Fluffy is also pregnant so i need to be extra careful.  any thoughts or ideas please let me know, thanks
