Cat Suddenly Dies
My poor baby Roary suddenly died Thursday morning. He was fine about 45 minutes earlier. I had been in another part of my house and had been getting things together for a yard sale I was having. I've had a lot of trouble sleeping lately and the day before had been the anniversary date of my mother passing away, so I was very upset already. I went into my room to get something and saw Roary laying on the floor at the end of my bed and thought nothing of it, I sidestepped so I wouldn't step on him and when I turned around I looked down at him and was in horror and disbelief. My baby had blood on his face and paws. I could tell he wasn't breathing. I went into spock. I quickly called a friend and asked her to come right over right away. She and her friend came right away and they went in and confirmed he had died. His eyes and mouth were open and his tongue was sticking out part way. She said it looked like he had possibly had a seizure or an aneurysm. She took a picture of him and sent it to her sister who works for a vet. They cleaned him up and wrapped him up and took him home with them to keep him safe until we could bury him. I couldn't afford an necropsy. I'll probably never know what killed my baby. He turned 10 on 7/17/16. I've had him and his brother since they were 8 weeks old. When I got my little fur babies they fit in the palm of my hands. He was gold and it looked like he had a mane like a lion so I named him Roary. His brother Sparkey and his puppy brother have been looking all over for him. He always laid on my chest if I didn't feel well or if I was upset. I'll miss him terribly. I wish I could have been with him to try to save him. It was a horrible week and I am glad I've had wonderful friends trying to help me through.
I'm new to this so bare with me haha!
I have had my gorgeous kitten Luna since May, she was supposedly born in March but a trip to the vets told us that she was born in around April time. this has caused her to be incredibly scatty, running riot, meowing non stop and only happy when she is asleep. we have tried everything to calm her down, catnip, plug ins! so much and she hasn't changed.
she started weeing over the house, so we brought back her litter tray which helped. when it seemed she was back to normal, we removed it again and we haven't had an accident since.
until recently.. she has gotten so much worse at misbehaving, biting all the cables and attacking the plants that she never has done before. today when she bit the cables I shut her in the kitchen. she climbed into my mums work bag and did a really big number 2. I don't know whether this was because she was scared or if she genuinely has something wrong with her?
has anyone experienced the same or similar thing? if so please can you give me some advice?
myself and my boyfriend are moving out in November/December time and im concerned that it is only getting worse. we will also be getting new kittens so im scared about that!
thanks for your advice in advance xx
Sudden death of my cat
My absolute best friend in feline form passed away this past Monday morning completely unexpectedly. To say I am devastated is an understatement. I have been crying for the past three days. I was just completely blindsided. He is one of four of our indoor cats and he just had a full exam at the vet last month. He was 9 years old and in perfect health, or so the vet thought. We really don't know what happened. At around 1 am my wife was still watching tv and heard a crash and a kitty moaning in the dining room. She rushed to investigate and found Timpy on the floor, legs all sprawled out, moaning with foam coming out of his mouth. My wife screamed upstairs for me to hurry down. When I rushed into the room and saw Timpy, I lost it. I knew instantly he was dying. We quickly wrapped him in a towel and rushed to the car. I don't know exactly when, but he died in my arms on the way to the emergency vet. We have had cats for over 20 years and have never experienced anything like this. Of our four cats, Timpy had the biggest personality and had stolen my heart years ago. He constantly let me know when it was breakfast or dinner, and he did it very loudly. Man could that cat meow. I haven't slept past 7 am on the weekends for over nine years or dared do anything before first feeding the cats when I came home in the evenings. But my reward was worth it. Timpy loved me almost as much as food. He'd snuggle with me for hours, sleep next to me at night, and allowed me to hold him and kiss his tummy unconditionally. No offense to cats, but he was a dog in a cat suit.It is truly killing me now that he's gone. Even though there are still three cats and a dog here, the house is terribly silent. It makes me so sad. It also makes me mad. Last Wednesday, for about a minute, I thought he might have been breathing a little too labored. I was a hair's length away from taking him to the vet when it seemed to stop and he acted otherwise totally normal. For the next couple of days I would watch him, and saw nothing unusual. And of course, he was just at the vet a mere four weeks prior, so what could possibly be wrong. We typically rush our animals to the vet if they just look at us funny, so I really thought I was being overly protective. Now of course I keep double guessing myself. What if I had taken him? Maybe he'd still be alive today. Obviously I will never know and will have to live with that thought forever. I also find myself wondering why, of all my cats, did it have to be him? I love all my cats dearly, but some are much older than 9 and none have the personality of Timpy. Any death would be difficult, but why my precious Timpy? We will never know what really killed my best buddy, Timpy, though everything I read suggests it was probably feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. A thickening of the heart wall that clearly isn't easily detected by the vet. Signs of the disease include labored breathing, which would suggest I probably did see something in his behavior last Wednesday. I just wish I hadn't talked myself out of whisking him to the vet. If there's one mistake I will never make again, it's that.Sorry for the long post, but I miss my Templeton more than I have ever missed anything in my life and I just really wanted to tell our story.
In Commemoration Of Tiggers
Please if anyone can help me please do. The day before my cat Tiggers died he was doing this weird coughing thing like he was trying to cough up hair balls but he never did. The next day we all woke up and he was his usual 9 month old kitten self running around the house and playing. That day we had to go to work and and of course left our two cat's home, (we live on a property and it was a hot day so we thought a snake may have gotten to him because previous times our dogs have gone straight to water with a snake bight, and Tiggers went straight to the water bowl inside because their was water everywhere and he was lying next to it.) When we came home we saw our beautiful little Tigers lying on the floor dead. He was a Bengal/Tabby cat and my favourite animal. When we were removing him he was so heavy and it didn't seem right. The next day after this sad tragedy we found a bee in the house without a stinger which we thought could have been the problem too, but because of his weight and the fact their was cat poo everywhere in the house we think it could have been his tummy too. He had just been to the vet a good three months ago to micro-chipped, DEA-sexed, needles extra but nothing showed up as a health issue. Hope I didn't bore you out but PLEASE HELP US!!!!
Poor Tigger Baby
Our Sheltie is deaf
Is there any way we can offer he a better quality of life? She is wonderful and very loving. She gets along well with our other hearing dogs.
My dog (10 year old Husky Collie mix) has just been diagnosed with a pancreatic cyst. For about 2 months he has been groaning (especially at night) and the discomfort led to an ultrasound and the discovery of a 2cm cyst in his pancreas. I am not sure if anyone else has had this condition and I would love to avoid surgery. The ultrasound was enough sticker shock. Help anyone? Thanks
