I have never washed my dogs, and brush them once week except when they are moulting. (Which is right now for Timber. Mountains of hair come out of him!) |

We rarely ever washed our other dog too. We brushed a lot, but never washed. |

I bathe/groom them every couple of weeks. Despite being indoor dogs they end up stinking after about 2 weeks. Then again, we live in the Texas heat and humidity. |

I bathe Annie about once a month- she's due right now, actually. I use J&J baby shampoo because it's really, really gentle on their skin, doesn't hurt her eyes (I've got big eyebrows and a beard to wash, afterall) and smells so much nicer than those dog shampoos. Annie used to stink after about 2 weeks, but then, on the advice of a canine nutritionist, I started supplementing her with liquid chlorophyll and I really don't notice her smelling at all anymore. This chlorophyll stuff is amazing- it's been an ingredient in deodorants for people allergic to deodorant for a long time. It helps their circulatory system and digestive system too, but the best part is that it naturally absorbs odors in their mouth, coming from their body, and even makes their poop tolerable. Annie even *likes* the taste. You may be able to find it at a natural foods/herb store but I buy online because it's so much cheaper- even with shipping I save about $2. I buy from Nature's Great (It IS an affiliate link, but only because I fell in love with this stuff and started recommending it to EVERYONE and figured as long as I'm their salesperson I should get a little cut!) |

Hey, thanks. I'll check that out. I use Buddy Wash by Cloudstar it smells really good, have you ever tried it? Having been using it for a long time. The 2 times or so a year we did wash our dog, okay, maybe it was a little more, but seriously our Rottie never smelled bad, we used the buddy wash bar. I've moved on to the liquid wash and rinse. It's AWESOME. And, if you want, you can use it on yourself! |

One of my dogs goes to the groomer so he gets washed there. But my other dog never gets bathed unless she's dirty. |

Woof, what kind of dog is it that you are taking to the groomer? I've never done the groomer thing, but have been considering it. I just am not sure if it would be silly doing on a dog like Ava. It's not like she has long hair or anything that needs major upkeep on. I just notice that dogs who go to the groomers always smell sooooo good when they come home. |

As soon as he gets back from the groomers, he runs straight to his couch and 'goes piggy'. That's what I call him rubbing and rolling around snorting like a pig. I don't think he likes the feeling or the smell! It usually lasts a few days. I suggest buying that spray on dog perfume! l ol, it smells great and isn't harmful for your pets! |

We actually got some of that spray on dog perfume for christmas a year ago for our other dog. The BF hated it, said no one was going to put that sissy stuff on his dog (his big burly BABY of a Rottweiler). So, I'd spray her with it whenever he wasn't around. HA |

I'm so allergic to dog perfume! It makes me sneeze and my eyes water. One time, I was picking up a rescue dog to drive it 3 hours to it's new foster home. I got to the rescue coordinators house and she was like "Sorry, I didn't have time to bathe her so I just covered her with dog perfume." ARRGGHH.. I had to drive the whole way with the windows half down and I was so miserable! |

I bathe Tiara every 7-10 days..... and their skin doesn't get dried out if you add a couple drops of wheat germ oil to their food every day.... I used to show dogs, and so I groomed LOTS !!!! LOL the most important thing with bathing is making sure you RINSE WELL !!!!! Don't leave ANY residue on them !!!! THATS what makes them itchy, not dry skin !!!!!! |

Hi We have to bath ours 1/2 times a week as they are all mainly white and we take them over the fields/forest/woods every day so as you might have guessed they are always covered in mud LOL And we have to brush them loads as my to dalmatians are always moulting so if amyone ever comes round we advise them not to wear blk or anything dark!! LOL LOL But we are quite lucky with the danes at the moment as they are only little they don't seem to be moulting at all yet. (but it is going to be a nightmare when all 4 of them start to get there summer coat ) Kayleigh |

Hey Lindsay, how much liquid chlorophyll do you give your dog? My dogs way 23-29 lbs. I just ordered some of it to give it a try. Oh, and BTW, I just wash my fuzz butts whenever the need arises. If they don't get into anything I can usually wait on the groomer to do it for me...LOL. |

Hello Magic gets groomed/bathed at least once a month. She is brushed out three times a week. I learned how to groom her from attending grooming seminars for her breed and have groomed her myself since I've had her (rescued at six months) she is now two and a half. I do this because she sleeps with me and I don't like the doggie smell either. It's a fun time for the both of us, she has a lot of hands on attention and I have the satisfaction of having a pretty sweet smelling pup. |
