Hey, sorry for the delay in getting back to you on what my vet told me.  She explained that strokes in cats can vary from minor to severe.  She also told me that without a complete blood workup, you may never know what caused the stroke and could risk another stroke because of some other thing that is wrong with your cat.  When a cat has a stroke you may notice that after she is really messed up.  Might not be walking properly/wobbling, looss of vision...  Anyway, what really sucks is that she said it hopefully will get better on its own.  All in, I think you may want to see about getting a vet to look at your cat.  Wish I could have been more helpful.

I sincerely appreciate your help, even if the information is still pretty open-ended. I did finally take her in on Sat., unfortunately because she suffered another minor stroke. This time it wasn't as severe, but she did have all of the same symptoms afterwards, wobbly while walking, falling and a slight head tilt to the right.
She is recovering again quite quickly, but the Vet said they really won't be able to tell whats wrong with her until they do a MRI, to check for tumors (these run around $600-$700!). I really hope that it is not that serious and that maybe these "seizures" are just side effects from her body trying to fight something off, like an infection. I know that its just wishful thinking but I am trying to stay positive, and take one step at a time. Right now she is on digestive antibiotics, and then she will go in next week for an ultrasound. Part of the symptoms before the stroke were vomiting and really bad diarrhea, so they want to check her stomach out. Really don't know at this point. :(

Hi-my cat also had a stroke, or least that was the shakey conclusion. I still have doubts. Home after an over-night at the very costly emergency hosp--some $1300 for tests (blood work only) and the one-nighter, she responded to hour-by-hour care, feeding off my finger, drinking from a hyperdermic tube (no needle of course) and being held and reassured, she improvfed tiny bits day to day. It's almost a month now. My vet thinks her ongoing disease--polycythemia--(thick red blood bells) produced a clot causing the ischemic stroke.  NO EXTRA MEDS ADMINISTERED.  Not much you can do . Keep your kitty hydrated using a syringe or hyperdermic or anyway you can get extra water in.  My Jeannie now is walking almost normal, eating, drinking and even starting to play  Good luck!!!! Meanwhile == my vets don't seem to know what to do,if anything tolerable, for her polycythemia which is also causing heart problems.    Take heart!  Calico
