When Cats Attack

My friend told me about her cat suddenly attacking people and I was wondering if that happened to anyone else. She said she would just be petting her cat, the cat would all sweet like she liked being pet, but then out of no where she would just turn and attack her. I have never heard of this happening before, has anyone else?

All 3 of my cats have done this, the first 2 mostly just when they were younger than 6 months but my other cat still does it. She looks sweet as innocent then she just pounces, and it really hurts too. She even jumps on my legs with her claws as I'm walking sometimes. She's very vicious when she wants to be
