The Japanese Bobtail is a medium to large sized cat breed with a heavy athletic build. They may either be short or long haired, and their fine soft coat is easy to care for. They have delicately shaped faces and paws, but the rest of their body is very muscular.

The Japanese Bobtail is a very ancient Japanese breed of cat, and no one knows how old the breed really is although there are ancient paintings and writings about this breed which are hundreds of years old. This breed was first imported into the United States in the late 1960’s, and to this day every Japanese Bobtail line can trace its origins back to Japan.
